Coast Runner sues Kickstarter, Indiegogo

Yesterday, Coast Runner sued a federal antitrust lawsuit against Kickstarter and Indiegogo. You can read our filings here:

Coast Runner’s History

Many of our customers will remember that we originally launched the Coast Runner CNC as a Kickstarter campaign to significant acclaim, achieving full funding after only a few hours.

But no sooner did we begin to enjoy this first day of success than Kickstarter summarily de-platformed us without a credible explanation.

Determined to launch our CNC to you, we immediately pivoted to Indiegogo, pouring days into the switchover.

Working with Indiegogo, we secured written guarantees that our campaign would not be rug-pulled, and that we could advertise to our backers, who were rightly suspicious of why Kickstarter made its decision.

Despite these guarantees, after our relaunch on Indiegogo, they too knocked us down in less than 12 hours!

Coast Runner Files Lawsuit

For many months we’ve discovered evidence that our removals from Kickstarter and Indiegogo were not unrelated – they were proof of illegal, coordinated action from a duopoly that pretends it can control the direction of American industrial life.

Yesterday we filed a federal antitrust lawsuit against these platforms in Texas.

By fighting this lawsuit, we send the unmistakable message that these corporate platforms have no divine right to pick who can win and lose in American crowdfunding, and that banks and political pressure groups will not be allowed to secretly work their influence over these platforms.

I feel it’s important for you to hear this news directly from me. I plan to send out more updates as this lawsuit develops.

Thank you again for being a Coast Runner customer! I look forward to continue to develop, with your support, the world’s best desktop CNC.
